Day Trip
Make a day of it! You can fill your day with things to see and do while in Dickinson. You will also find many unique shopping and dining places while in town. Dickinson is located on Interstate 94, in western North Dakota.

Turn off the interstate at Exit 61 and visit the staff at the Visitors Center, while relaxing a few minutes before exploring Dickinson. Our Visitors Center has all the information you need for Dickinson and all of southwestern North Dakota. The gift shop also has just the right item you need to bring back to family and friends.

Dakota Dinosaur Museum:
While seasonal, the Dakota Dinosaur Museum houses thousands of rock, mineral and fossil specimens including a complete real Triceratops skeleton. The museum features an outstanding collection of minerals from around the world and fourteen full-scale dinosaurs. The gift store offers a variety of items. Open May 1 - Labor Day, 9:00 am - 5:00 pm. There is an entrance fee.

Dickinson Museum Center:
Joachim Regional Museum - The museum includes art and history exhibits of regional significance, featuring the Osborn Reading and Research Room. Visit the museum throughout the year. There is no fee.
Prairie Outpost Park - Five historic and six reproduction buildings are located in the park east of the museum. The Heritage Pavilion picnic shelter is located in the park. Free tours are available from Memorial Day until mid-August.
Pioneer Machinery Building - Featuring the early ranching and agricultural history of Stark County. The building houses farming machinery along with other regional artifacts. Free tours are available from Memorial Day until mid-August.

Ukrainian Cultural Institute
Visit the beautiful eggs! Handcrafted with exquisite detail, the “Pyskany” Easter Egg collections are full of color and design, each one unique with their own story. Embroidery and other crafts are showcased and offered to the public. Open year round, Monday - Thursday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (MT). There is no fee.

Dickinson Downtown Walking Tour:
Discover Dickinson’s downtown history. A historic tour of homes, businesses, and public buildings is available by picking up a brochure at the Museum Center, or ask to use the audio tour, also available at the Museum Center.
