Artwork of Ric Sprynczynatyk of Bismarck will be on display at the Ukrainian Cultural Institute, 1221 West Villard, Dickinson, from June 29 to July 28.
Sprynczynatyk is known for his sky ceiling murals in Las Vegas, India, Japan, Philippines, China, and Mexico. His work in Bismarck has included the ceiling at the airport and projects at Space Aliens Restaurant, Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library and in various homes. He has been painting for about 30 years.
At UCI, several examples of his watercolor and acrylic artwork will be available for viewing. He tends to favor using canvases that are 24 inches by 36 inches and larger. Ukrainian themed artwork will include pieces titled “Baba,” which is Ukrainian for grandmother; and “Dido,” which means grandfather; along with one of a Ukrainian who is known worldwide, among others.
Sprynczynatyk traces his lineage to the Belfield and Billings County area, with his great-grandparents who were Robert Perovich and Annie Bjelica, and Nicholas Sprynczynatyk and Anna Kassian from Wilton, Burleigh County.
Ric Sprynczynatyk is married to Rhea. He splits his time between Bismarck, where his children are located, and the Philippines.
